Efrén J. Flores, MD, graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School and trained in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where he currently serves as a board-certified Thoracic radiologist, as Officer for Radiology Community Health and Equity, and as Assistant Professor in Radiology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Flores research is focused on advancing health equity by identifying social determinants of health impacting access to radiology care among underserved patient populations and develop interventions to bridge the healthcare disparities gap. His current and previous funded projects and published research focused on improving access to lung cancer screening among individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds, Hispanics, and individuals with serious mental illness, among other underserved populations. Dr. Flores’ research has led him to scientific presentations at national meetings and has also published his work in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Flores also serves on local and national committees, including the MGH Executive Committee on Community Health, the American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable, and the American College of Radiology Lung Cancer Screening 2.0, among others.
